SMCOG Examines Christian County For Full Plan

Christian County has partnered with the Southwest Missouri Council of Governments (SMCOG) to update the county’s comprehensive plan.

A comprehensive plan serves as a guide for the community’s future goals, development and land use for the next 20 years. SMCOG has a survey available at You can also find the survey at

The survey will end on October 10. The information provided by survey respondents is confidential and will not be used to identify respondents.

The survey asks for basic demographic information, including age and education level, then asks the respondent’s working conditions, whether he works in Christian County or commutes elsewhere, and whether he is working in Christian County or commuting elsewhere. he or she works from home or not.

The survey examines the respondent’s feelings about infrastructure and utilities, such as roads, libraries, fire protection, utilities, and police services.

The survey then asks questions about the different areas of growth in the business and industrial sectors, and the types of businesses and industries the respondent would support. There are questions about immediate growth, 10 years and 20 years. Respondents also have some flexibility to share what they like about Christian County and the challenges they face living and / or working in Christian County.
