Residents are invited to join community discussion groups


The Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling for expressions of interest from a wide range of residents to discuss community priorities for the county and how residents can actively participate in Council decision-making processes.

Three general focus groups will be held to update the Board’s current community strategic plan and community engagement strategy.

The Council’s Director of Corporate Strategy and Resourcing, Carmel Foster, described the purpose of the focus groups.

“A lot has changed in the past five years at Council and throughout the County since the development of the current community strategic plan,” she said.

“Together with residents, the council wishes to review the priorities of our current community strategic plan and identify any gaps or opportunities that may have arisen over the past few years.

“We will also review our community engagement strategy and ask attendees how we can improve how we communicate and engage with our community on future Council projects and initiatives.”

All three discussion groups are open to all members of the community.

“Ideally we would like to have a wide range of people from across the County,” Ms Foster added.

General focus groups will be held at the following locations:

Tuesday, October 18, 2022

12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Mittagong RSL

Wednesday, October 19, 2022

6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Penrose Community Hall

Thursday, October 20, 2022

12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Yerrinbool Community Hall

Light meals will be offered to participants at each session.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to take an active role in local decision-making and a chance for Council to reconnect and listen to community feedback,” Ms Foster said.

A separate focus group will be organized for representatives of local community organizations.
