Otley 2030 will organize public discussion groups

OTLEY residents are invited to a climate action group discussion sessions in January to discuss ways to help the city be prosperous and sustainable.

The sessions are organized by Otley 2030, following the success of the group’s Connecting a Community survey, and anyone from the local community is welcome to participate.

Community Development Officer Andrew Howarth said: “You don’t need to have a basic knowledge of the climatic or natural crises we are currently facing. All it takes is a passion. for Otley and ideas on how we can make Otley a sustainable and prosperous city over the next decade and beyond.

There will be five focus groups, divided by electoral district. Anyone who cannot attend the session of their own parish is free to join another. The Otley 2030 committee wanted to host the in-person sessions, but continued uncertainty over Covid regulations meant they decided to do them all online. Mr Howarth said he would be keen to make other arrangements to meet with anyone who cannot attend any of the sessions or who would prefer to meet in person. More details can be found at www.otley2030.com/community.

The dates of the parish sessions are: Wednesday January 5 – Ashfield. Thursday January 6 – Danefield.

Thursday January 13 – Manor. Monday January 17 – Prince Henry Thursday January 20 – West Chevin.

All sessions will start at 7:30 p.m. To participate, send an email to [email protected] and indicate which session you plan to attend.
