DGGSD 58: District 58 invites community to participate in equity focus groups

November 15, 2021

Dear families of District 58,

As you may have heard, District 58 is proactively participating in a fairness audit with the aim of identifying strengths and needed improvements. The audit will allow a full analysis of qualitative and quantitative information. Our goal is to ensure that all students, staff and families in District 58 feel welcome and able to participate in our educational community, and to ensure that every student has equitable opportunities to reach their full potential. potential.

As part of this audit, we will be holding focus groups, where community members can share their views and experiences. The focus groups will be available in person and virtually in late November and December, and last approximately one hour. If you are interested in participating in a focus group, please fill out this interest form. Places in discussion groups are limited, so we ask you to respond with Friday November 19.

In December, we will also be sending out a survey to families, staff and district students in Grades 4-8 to ensure all stakeholders have an opportunity to have their say. All surveys will be optional and anonymous; in particular, students will not be required to complete a survey and families will be notified before surveys are shared with students. We plan to share the survey information with families on December 1.

If you have any questions about the District 58 Equity Audit process, please contact Justin Sisul at [email protected] or 630-719-5867. We look forward to sharing the audit results with our community in the spring as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that every student in District 58 has an exceptional, high-quality educational experience.
