Jefferson County health officials are looking for people to participate in focus groups to help them plan programs and services for the next three years.
The Jefferson County Department of Health, Comtrea, Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Crystal City, Jefferson County Community Partnership, and Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corp. , must be completed every three years.
âWe are a community; we need to work together and we need people who are really engaged and who care about the future of what our agencies are able to handle, âsaid Alicia Evans, community health and access manager at Mercy Jefferson.
She said agencies are looking for people to participate in community health needs assessment focus groups, which will meet on Tuesday, September 28; Thursday October 14; and Tuesday October 26. Each of the focus group meetings will be held virtually and will last an hour and a half.
âIt’s an hour and a half of your time and you’re compensated for it,â Evans said.
Those who participate in the focus groups will receive a $ 25 gift card to Amazon or Walmart, she said.
She said the focus groups are open to residents of Jefferson County over the age of 18.
Evans said each focus group will consist of 15 people.
âWe try to have a variety of responses, to have people with different ideas, backgrounds and experiences to really know what’s going on in their own part of a county,â she said.
âAny quotes or things we collect are all anonymous. We do not record these sessions. We’re just taking notes to really find out from the community what these agencies should be focusing on in this next round of the community health needs assessment.
A survey was conducted over the summer to ask residents to answer several questions, and this data will also be included in the Community Health Needs Assessment Report, which will be available to the public in March 2021.
