Cochrane DSSAB is hosting childcare focus groups this week

The Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board is hosting a series of in-person workshops for parents and caregivers about child care in our area. Sessions will begin in Timmins tomorrow and continue in Kapuskasing, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls later in the week. Program manager Gabriella Desmarais-Brunet says the agency is seeking input from parents and caregivers.

“What kind of services did they encounter when trying to find licensed child care?” she said. “How are the startup programs?” Do the timetables meet everyone’s needs, can they be improved or enriched? How can we, as a service system manager, ensure that our early years programs meet the needs of our community. »

Ms. Desmarais-Brunet says that the CADSS offers both early childhood and childcare services.

“Our early years programs go until age 12, as before and after school programs continue until age 12,” she said. “So it’s nice to hear a variety of parents with kids of different ages and caregivers.”

Here is a complete list of the dates below for the information sessions:

  • Tuesday, August 9 – Timmins
  • Thursday August 11 – Kapuskasing
  • Friday August 12 – Cochrane
  • Saturday August 13 – Iroquois Falls
