September 29, 2021

Job applicants are more interested in diversity and inclusion as well as working remotely and recruiters experience stress, according to Jobvite’s “2021 Recruiter Nation Report”.

The survey found that 40% of recruiters said applicants turned down an interview or job offer due to an organization’s lack of diversity.

Additionally, 49% said job seekers learn more about diversity and inclusion initiatives than they did the year before, up 16 percentage points from a survey similar in 2020.

However, 20% of recruiters said their organizations did not have goals to improve diversity.

“Companies are experiencing a new kind of worker revolution where candidates and employees feel empowered to choose a job where they feel supported and valued,” said Kerry Gilliam, vice president of marketing at Jobvite. “There is great pressure for organizations to respond to these challenges by leveraging the right strategies that attract talent quickly and by adopting initiatives that align with candidate values and priorities. “

Jobvite’s report included more than 800 recruiters based in the United States.

He also found that 65% of recruiters reported an increase in stress levels, with one in five reporting a drastic increase.

When it comes to job applicants, 60% of recruiters said they believe organizations will lose high quality employees if they don’t shift to a culture of distance first. And 57% think the lack of work-from-home policies makes it harder to attract potential candidates.

Other findings of the report included:

  • 47% say the lack of qualified / qualified candidates is the biggest concern in hiring quality talent.
  • 54% plan to outsource more jobs to freelancers and 40% hire more internal employees.
